Bernadette Del Chiaro New Executive Director

TUESDAY JULY 2

SACRAMENTO — The California Solar Energy Industries Association (CALSEIA), the state’s oldest and largest solar trade association, is pleased to announce the appointment of Bernadette Del Chiaro as its new executive director starting July 1, 2013.
“We are thrilled to welcome Bernadette to CALSEIA. Her extensive experience in renewable energy makes her a perfect fit,” said Rick Reed, CALSEIA’s Chairman of the Board of Directors.

Ms. Del Chiaro brings over a decade of policy and communications experience on renewable energy issues in California, and in particular, solar power. As the Director of Clean Energy and Global Warming Programs at Environment California, a citizen-based environmental advocacy organization, Ms. Del Chiaro was a leading voice, if not the principle architect, of nearly all of the major clean energy policy initiatives over the last decade. These initiatives include the Million Solar Roofs Initiative (SB 1), California Solar Initiative, the Solar Water Heating Initiative (AB 1470), and the renewable portfolio standards established at the state and local levels. She’s authored several clean energy reports and has been quoted widely in the media including MSNBC, NPR, BBC World News, the New York Times, the Los Angeles Times, and dozens of local and trade outlets.

“California is the top market for solar energy in the country, and CALSEIA’s ongoing involvement with legislative and regulatory proceedings will benefit significantly from Bernadette’s long term engagement in these areas,” said Mr. Reed.

Del Chiaro, a California native, holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of California at Berkeley. Ms. Del Chiaro will be speaking at Intersolar North America, the largest-attended solar conference in the U.S. July 8th-11th, and will make herself available to the media.

CALSEIA is a non-profit trade association established in 1978 with a mission to support the use of all solar technologies and establish a sustainable industry for a clean energy future. Ms. Del Chiaro will be based at its headquarters in Sacramento.
